"An attempt has recently been made to show that the Irish Bishops at the time of the Reformation did not continue the Episcopal succession which they had received at the hands of those Prelates who were recognized by the law of Church and State; but that this Irish succession was handed on by the Marian Bishops to certain intruders nominated in consistory by the Pope, who assumed to themselves, on his sole authority, the title of Irish Sees, and have since been regarded by some Roman Catholic writers, and a few others, as the Bishops of the Irish Church." - p. 2.
The author goes on to examine in detail historical records that contradict the assertions of Mr. Froude and Dr. Brady and to show that Reformed Bishops were the ones to hold the Irish Sees.
