Charles Seymour Robinson (1829-1899), b. Bennington, Vermont; educated at Williams College, Union Seminary (NY), and Princeton. A Presbyterian, Robinson was pastor of churches at Troy, NY; Brooklyn, NY; Paris,France; and New York City. He was for a brief period the editor of the Illustrated Christian Weekly. He composed several hymns, and edited several very successful hymnals.
