The peace-loving Peter the Goat learns the hard way that peace must be fought for. He is ridiculed in his own barnyard, and sets off on a journey where he learns that peace can be achieved, but only through using his head in a different way than merely thinking. He returns home where he is then respected.

Diana Thorne (1895-1963), b. Odessa, Russia; d. New York City. She was the author-illustrator of more than forty book and illustrator of some fifty more. She was known for her ability to illustrate animals, dogs in particular, and exhibited a deep understanding of her subjects and was adept at portraying them in motion.
