A history of the Wyoming Valley of the Susquehanna River in middle Pennsylvania, drawn upon historical records and interviews with persons still living who remembered the Connecticut claims and the great Massacre that occurred during the Revolution. Begins with a history of the Iroquois in New York and Pennsylvania, with notice of the war-like behavior. In-depth treatment of the Pennsylvania treaties, the land claims of Connecticut, the early settlers along the Susquehanna, the Revolutionary War transactions and battles, and the Wyoming Massacre. The history continues down to about the year 1790, with some recollections afterwards about the resettling of the Wyoming Valley after the massacre & war.
