Luther Lee (1800-1889), b. Schoharie, NY; d. near Flint, Michigan Lee was a Methodist Episcopal circuit preacher, pastor, editor and author. "He began to preach against slavery in 1836, and was mobbed several times..." - Appleton's.
Lee led the abolitionist and temperance causes among the New York Methodists, and was a key figure in establishing the anti-slavery Wesleyan Methodist denomination. After the Civil War he returned to the Methodist Episcopal fold and was a member of the Michigan Conference.
