Black pebble cloth, titles to spine faded, 5 1/2 x 8 inches, edges worn with fraying at the corner tips, university donation bookplate (bought by us from an historical society), 319 clean pp., end paper hinges partially cracked.
Signed "R. J. Roberts" in pencil on the ffep. The donation bookplate identifies him as Rev. John J. Roberts (1846-1890), a minister in Columbus, Wisconsin.

Rev. John Robert Daniel (1826-1898 ), b. North Wales, Carnarvnoshire; d. Randolph, Wisconsin. His family came to New York in 1845, moving that same year to Fox Lake, Wisconsin, settling on eighty acres as one of the first families to emigrate to the area. He was the pastor of the Welsh Calvinistic Church in the Fox Lake area of Dodge Co., Wisconsin. He owned a "fine farm" of 145 acres, began preaching in 1848 or 1849, and was ordained in Spring Vale, June, 1856. His preaching began in homes and a schoolhouse, until a church edifice was erected.
