John Daniel Felter (1825-1914), b. New York City. He was an artist and engraver, active in New York City from 1847 to 1860. His book illustrations were primarily executed for religious publishers such as Carlton & Porter and Robert Carter & Brothers. His artwork was exhibited at the American Institute in 1847.
"He was prominent in business and religious life, and in charge of the art department of the Methodist Book Concern until fifteen years ago, when he retired...For nearly fifty years he was especially active in the First M.
