Edward Benton Coe (1842-1914), Connecticut-born clergyman, educated at Yale (1862) and Union Theological Seminary (1863). Coe served as Street Professor of Modern Languages at Yale (1864-1879), was ordained by the Reformed Church in America (1879), and became the minister of the Fifth Avenue Collegiate Church that same year. He served as trustee of several colleges, including Rutgers and Columbia University.
