Ernest Hello (1828-1885), French Roman Catholic writer, born to a French jurist. Frail from youth yet of unusual intelligence, his writing in philosophy and theology are appreciated by thoughtful readers. His first book, 'Renan, l'Allemagne et l'Atheisme (1858) was a brilliant refutation of Renan.
The copy offered here is an enlarged edition of his first book, printed shortly after the author's death. "It is, perhaps, the greatest of his works, exhibiting the full powers of his great mind, he remarkable grasp of basic truths, his perfect control of the instruments of philosophy and his own striking style." - Catholic Encyclopedia (New Advent).
