Two sermons, which are actually one long sermon in two parts, on the text I Timothy 2: 11-12. The duty of prayer for civil rulers is explained and commended, with encouragements and warnings. Particular notice is given of the duty of United States citizens to do so, with warnings against the encroachment of papists (see appendix note D.) who have failed to establish republican governments in their own countries. The appendix also has extracts and thoughts regarding Washington's farewell address and his warnings against parties in politics.
