William Mackergo Taylor (1829-1895), b. Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland; d. New York, NY. He was educated at the University of Glasgow and at the divinity hall of the United Presbyterian Church, Edinburgh. After serving as pastor of several congregations in Scotland, he became the pastor of the (Congregational) Broadway Tabernacle in NYC for 20 yrs. - 1871-1892. He was the author of several biographies as well as volumes of sermons. In 1876 he lectured at Yale and in 1880 at Princeton.
