Curtis V. Strickland (1848-1910), b. Easton, Pennsylvania; d. Huntington, Indiana. During the American Civil War, he enlisted as a drummer at age 14 and served with the 153rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He was wounded in the battle of Chancellorsville, captured, and recovered in a Confederate hospital. After the war he moved to Mishawaka Indiana, and for some years taught singing school. He felt called to the ministry and was ordained by the Eel River Christian Conference in 1878. He served many Christian congregations in northwestern Indiana. Strickland published a number of Gospel song books and patriotic songs.
