George Benjamin Miller (1795-1869), b. Emmaus, PA; d. Otsego, NY. Miller's father was a Moravian minister, and George initially followed his father's church teachings, but was later influenced by and ordained in the Lutheran church. He established several schools and academies during his career as a minister. In 1844 he became professor of theology at Hartwick Seminary, near Otsego, NY.

HIs preaching was not of a popular character which in the present day gives celebrity, but was nevertheless, thoroughly orthodox and evangelical. His style was accurate and perspicuous. He did not follow creeds so much as he did the Bible. He was not given to denunciation of those who differed fro him.
