Lieutenant-Colonel Frederick Sadlier Brereton (1872-1957), British Army medical officer and author of adventure books for boys. He was a medical officer attached to the Scots Guards during the Second Boer War in South Africa. Writing under the name Captain S. F. Brereton, he wrote nearly forty books between 1900 and 1921, almost all of which were published by Blackie and Son, the same publishers of the G. A. Henty adventure stories.
