"The above work was written at the request of the Ogdensburgh District Ministerial Association, and its publication unanimously recommended by the vote of the Black River Conference at its session in 1852. To the ministers and members of the Methodist Episcopal Church with the bounds of the Black River, Oneida, East Genesee, and Genesee Conferences, it will be especially interesting and instructive, as containing sketches of the lives of some of the veterans and pioneers of Methodism in Northern and Western New-York." - publisher.
