Harriet Mallard, d.1883 in New York City. We have found very little information about this author. We find the name listed in NYC directories with her occupation as teacher in the 1850's and as simply "books" 1860-1880. One of the poems in this book, It is I, Be not Afraid, was published in The Sailor's Magazine and Naval Journal (Nov. 1854) and attributed to Miss Harriet Mallard, N.Y. She authored two other books that were published, Thoughts of Heaven (1867), and Bible Evergreens for Christmas (1872).
A collection of poems on Bible themes. The sections on sanctification lead us to believe that the author may have been a Methodist, or an Episcopalian with Methodist sympathies.
