Paolo Emiliani Giudici (1812-1872), b. Sicily; d. Tonbridge, England. The work offered here was first published in 1844 and made his name famous; in 1848 he was made professor of Italian Literature at Pisa, but his liberal political views led to his removal. He was later professor of Aesthetics and secretary of the Academy of Fine Arts at Florence. He held a prominent place as a historian. - see Encyclopedia Britannica (1911).
